Cerelila is an internationally expanding food company selling ready to roll dough, cookies, and pancakes to over 50 countries around the world. Cerelia has created a strategy to become sustainable and is monitoring the progress yearly. The company has issued a sustainability target for all plastic packaging: in 2022, 50% of plastic packaging should be recyclable. 

Today Cerelia is testing mono PE-foil, aiming to implement this before 2022. Cerelia values recycling, but they put more importance on preventing plastic waste. They wish to find reuse options for the packaging of JAN Dutch crepes, poffertjes, and American pancakes, that help emphasize the fun of the brand.

JAN is the market leader for ready-to-heat Dutch crepes in the Netherlands and can be found in the chilled convenience shelves in Dutch supermarkets. Since the launch of JAN in 2010, the brand has been growing double-digit. 

The core target group of JAN is busy families with children from 4 to 14 years old, who are looking for products that are easy to prepare and liked by their children. Especially for those days when there is no time to prepare a healthy meal and happy family moments around the table are more important. JAN offers these families the easiness of ready-to-heat products of the highest quality, that are distinctive from their competitors through fun branding.

Reusable packaging is becoming more common and its demand keeps on growing. 

Jan, the market leader for Dutch pancakes, and the preferred option for many busy families would like to find a solution to make their packaging re-usable while keeping it fun and appealing for children.

How can we create a reusable package that is fun to use and appealing to parents with children from 4 to 14 years old?
